Positive Psychology

Dr. Martin E. P. Seligman, PhD., Psychologist and founder of Positive Psychology, talks about psychology as a field of study as it works one-on-one with each patient and each practitioner.  As it moves beyond a focus on disease, what can modern psychology help us to become?

About Dr. Seligman

He is the founder of Positive Psychology, a field of study that examines healthy states, such as happiness, strength of character and optimism.

In 1998,  Dr. Seligman was elected President of the American Psychological Association (APA).  His primary aim as APA President was to join practice and science together so both might flourish, a goal that has dominated his own life as a psychologist.  His major initiatives concerned the prevention of ethnopolitical warfare and the study of Positive Psychology.
